September is National Preparedness Month!
Every September, we like to remind our loyal followers that September is National Preparedness Month. It is a good time to provide you with tips to keep your home or business safe and prepared for any potential disasters that could occur. With school back in session, football season starting and the slight change in the weather – September is a great month here in the Pacific Northwest. It’s also time to transition from summer into our colder, wetter months and get prepared against any type of disaster that can strike. We at ServiceMaster Restore want to provide you with some helpful tips in honor of September being National Preparedness Month. This year, we want to make sure you follow these simple steps:
- Be informed
- Make a plan for any emergency you could face
- Build an emergency supplies kit
- Get involved by sharing your participation on social media

Below are just a few of those tips you can share:
- After water damage, remove as much water as possible by mopping and extracting the water as quickly as possible. Please remove any area rugs from the floor.
- After fire damage, do not touch anything with your bare hands. Oil from hands can cause additional damage to upholstery, walls and woodwork.
- After vandalism occurs, make a list of all damage and use a shop vacuum to remove glass from carpet and upholstery.
